Rod Lewis’s record holding Grumman F8F2 Bearcat sits on the tarmac at the 2015 Reno National Championship Air Races.  Rare Bear holds the record for the fastest propeller driven piston engined aircraft in the world. The record was set August 21, 1989 at 528.33 mph average speed through 3 passes. It also holds the time to climb record to 3000 meters. This aircraft has been racing since 1969 and is one of the oldest Unlimited racers in the world.
